If you’re catching a flight out of San Diego International Airport, expect to pay more when you check your bags.
Airports across the country are hiking the price of baggage fees to offset the rising cost of jet fuel prices.
San Diego International Airport reports fuel prices have jumped 85-percent since the war in Iran began February 28th. That increase is now being passed on to travelers.
Jet Blue, American and United have all raised baggage fees from five to 10 dollars per checked bag.
United Airlines’ first checked bag fee for most passengers will now be $45 if prepaid, and $50 if purchased within 24 hours of a flight.
“United Chase credit card holders, MileagePlus Premier members, active military members and customers traveling in premium cabins can still check a bag for free, and customers in most markets will still enjoy a $5 discount if they prepay for their bags online 24 hours before their flight,” United said.
