Prominent Twitch streamer and left-wing political commentator Hasan Piker was spotted at the beloved Key Food Market liquor store in San Francisco, photos on social media show.
In an April 2 photo shared on Corner Stories, Hafeth “Omar” Mansouri’s Instagram series that chronicles day-to-day life at his community liquor store, Piker can be seen posing with Mansouri and Saikat Chakrabarti — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s former chief of staff who’s running for Congress to represent San Francisco.
Raised by a family of Indian immigrants in Fort Worth, Texas, Chakrabarti studied at Harvard University and worked on Wall Street before landing a job as the second engineer to ever join Stripe, the multibillion-dollar financial technology company. As a result, he said he earned “an ungodly amount of money” but left the industry to work for Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. According to his website, his campaign focuses on local and international issues ranging from saving Muni and BART to divesting taxpayer dollars from Israel’s genocide campaign in Palestine.
Piker is one of the most powerful streamers online, with a following of 1.6 million on Instagram and 3.1 million on Twitch. Footage posted on Instagram this week shows him endorsing the Oakland People’s Arms Embargo, which says it aims to end the city’s shipment of military cargo and F-35 fighter jets to Israel.
Mansouri, who’s Palestinian, manages Key Food Market with his cat, Gaza, and his dog, Major, who won the coveted title of SFGATE’s best corner store pet in 2024.
