(FOX40.COM) — Firefighters saved two dogs and a terrarium holding reptiles from a well-involved house fire in Sacramento on Friday morning.
Sacramento Metropolitan firefighters responded to the fire in the 8800 block of Lemas Avenue around 7:36 a.m., finding a well-involved garage fire that extended into the home.
Firefighters began an “aggressive fire attack” when they arrived, fire officials said. They were told that two dogs and a terrarium containing reptiles were in the home, and they safely rescued them.
The occupants of the home safely evacuated before firefighters’ arrival.
Fire officials said a working smoke alarm alerted the occupants to the fire in the garage and emphasized that residents should test their smoke detectors monthly and replace the batteries at least once a year.
