FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — A teenage boy and two teenage girls were stabbed Thursday night at River Park Shopping Center in Fresno.
The stabbings happened around 10 p.m., shortly after two people were stabbed at ArtHop in downtown Fresno.
The Fresno Police Department says a 14-year-old boy received a single stab wound to the abdomen and is currently in stable condition.
They say a 15-year-old girl was stabbed in the upper back, and a 13-year-old girl received a stab wound to the leg. Both girls are also in stable condition.
Two suspects, a 14-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl, were arrested for felony assault with a deadly weapon.
One knife was recovered at the scene.
The Fresno downtown partnership released the following statement:
“Last night’s incident of violence had no place in Downtown Fresno or our community.
Our thoughts today are with the victims of what occurred in River Park and Downtown, and we are grateful to the police who responded at the scene. As Fresnans, our hearts hurt to see young people show up anywhere with the apparent intention of causing harm. Inclusive public events are part of how we cultivate a healthy community.
Structure and intentional programming within public events are essential for public safety. The announcement of Fulton StreetHop starting next month is already an important step in that direction by a coalition of community partners working with DFP.
We are in communication with the City of Fresno about other important public safety measures. We look forward to more information about ensuring safety at community events.
