CASTRO — Ka Kai is a new Northern Thai restaurant that opened on Thursday, March 19, Hoodline reports. It comes from three alum of the restaurant group behind Farmhouse Kitchen, and co-owner Tar Watcharin states the menu is “a comination of authentic northern Thai flavors mixed with American style.” 4133 18th Street, San Francisco
OAKLAND — It’s bread galore at the new Studio Estepan, a bakery from Estevan Silva, a former baker from Michelin-starred Quince, East Bay Nosh reports. Silva’s business joins the O2 Artisans Aggregate space alongside Soba Ichi and Grand Opening Bakery. Expect items like blue corn conchas, demi baguettes, and shokupan, per the news outlet. 2311 Magnolia Street, Oakland
OAKLAND — East Bay Nosh also caught the opening of Tita Becca’s, a Filipino restaurant that opened in downtown Oakland. Expect classics like pancit, lechon, lumpia, and more. 400 15th Street, Oakland
MENLO PARK — Marina-based Causwells opens its second location in Menlo Park, bringing its bistro menu and inventive cocktails to the Springline development. Expect that famous burger, of course, but there are new items like the andouille sausage eggs Benedict for brunch and fried chicken with coleslaw. PETALUMA — Mazza Kitchen is the catering business of chef Kristina Daya, serving Levantine food, and as of Wednesday, March 25, she’s launched a grab-and-go cafe that’s quickly becoming a local favorite, Sonoma Magazine reports. Situated in an industrial park, Daya serves items like maoushe flatbreads, couscous salad with mint, and a spice-loaded Levantine roast chicken that’s the star of the show. 1000 Clegg Court, Petaluma
