I know you don’t cover Long Beach that extensively but as a former employee of First to Serve let me be the first to say that something is suspicious.
For Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson to abruptly sever ties with the nonprofit BEFORE the conclusion of the internal investigation raises questions about what the City knew about fiscal malfeasance before it came to the public eye.
Although they stopped paying the organization late last year, to end the contract so quickly is quite frankly, unheard of.
As for the allegations of fiscal mismanagement, it is true! The owner/operator have faced multiple lawsuits from its employees and are very cheap when it comes to providing services to the people they are paid to serve.
Is ending the contract a way to divert focus from what the investigation will reveal?
I hope Chris Sweeney becomes the new mayor, enough is enough.
