BERKELEY – The California men’s gymnastics team closed out its 2026 home slate with a third-place finish at the MSPF Championship on Saturday evening, meeting top-ranked Oklahoma, Stanford and Air Force in front of an enthusiastic crowd at Haas Pavilion. The Sooners repeated as conference champions with a score of 332.100, followed by the Cardinal (327.200), the Golden Bears (317.750) and the Falcons (303.800) with Cal’s score acting as a two-point season best.

Redshirt senior Jasper Smith-Gordon ended his final conference meet with a pair of podium finishes, first recording a personal-best score of 13.800 on pommel horse to set a new team season high and take third place overall before following up with a second-place 14.250 on vault. Classmate Theodor Roald Gadderud joined Smith-Gordon on the vault podium, posting the second of his three sticks to earn a score of 14.100 for third place and his third career conference medal.

Roald Gadderud (13.800) and sophomore Trigg Dudley (13.650) both posted significant personal bests on floor to start off the night, followed by Smith-Gordon’s standout routine on pommel horse to give the Bears the second-best team score of the meet (52.450). The third rotation featured a season-best rings routine of 13.350 from junior Jaxon Mitchell and Roald Gadderud’s first stick of the night.

Cal posted the highest score of any team on vault with a total of 55.950 – .350 over their four-score season average – thanks in part to the efforts of Smith-Gordon and Roald Gadderud as well as a 14.000 from freshman star Nathan Underhill. Roald Gadderud posted the highest score by any Bear on parallel bars, finishing his 13.800 routine with a stuck dismount; he was joined in the stick bonus category by fellow senior Kaien Orion, who earned a score of 13.400 for his efforts. The Bears finished off the meet on high bar, where Mitchell recorded a personal-best 13.050 and junior captain Carter Kim posted a stick of his own for a team-high score of 13.100.
