SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Large plumes of smoke from a fire in Mexico could be seen from several areas in San Diego on Saturday afternoon.
Officials with CalFire said around 4:30 p.m. that the fire was several miles into Mexico and not a threat to the U.S. No California- or any U.S.-based crews had been asked to respond to help fight the blaze as of 7:15 p.m.
Large plumes of smoke can be seen from South Bay.
In South Bay, large plumes of smoke could be seen rising above the mountains. The fire is reportedly near Otay Mountain south of the border.

In California, two wildfires erupted in Los Angeles on Friday, prompting the evacuation of thousands. Dubbed the Springs Fire, the blaze sparked in Moreno Valley and has been 45% contained at 4,176 acres. Meanwhile, the Crown Fire in Northern Los Angeles is 74% contained at 345 acres.
