SAN JOSE, Calif. (KRON) — Health inspectors closed down a San Jose donut shop after finding live and dead cockroaches in the facility, among other health violations.
Christy’s Donuts on North Capitol Avenue was closed due to health violations including cockroaches and unclean cooking equipment and utensils found during a routine health inspection done on Monday.
Inspectors observed both live and dead cockroaches in both the front service area and the back kitchen area.
They also noted equipment and utensils either unclean or not in good repair. The inspector said there was a “large Advantco cooker being used to cook [a] dish in rear kitchen area. PIC [person in charge] stated food is for their breakfast menu and they just started cooking it today,” on the report. There was also food residue build up on the floor in the kitchen, the report stated.
The bathrooms were also cited as “improperly constructed, supplied, cleaned,” on the report.
The restaurant must close down until all health issues have been resolved.
