I have been following the La Jolla secession scenario for some time now as it is slowly moving through the process of being placed on the ballot. With proponents adding former San Diego City Manager Jack McGrory to their team, we can expect the secessionists will be playing hardball.
It is time for someone to step up and organize an anti-secession committee, giving voice to the opposing view as to what the loss of the La Jolla area would mean to the city. If nothing is done, the secessionists may achieve success simply for lack of opposition. It is unlikely the general voting populace would favor this secessionist movement if they could be properly informed of the downside of this proposal. Let’s not let the city lose one of its crown jewels by default!
