Bar di Bello, a new Milan-inspired bar and restaurant, has landed at Silver Lake’s Sunset Row development. The sleek new restaurant comes from a partnership between industry veterans Alex Wilmot (Gigi’s), Michael Kassar (Wexler’s Deli), Kristin Olszewski (Nomadica), and Mike Moonves. Bar di Bello is the latest addition to the Neman brothers’ development, which will soon be home to the first U.S. outpost of Noma Projects.
The menu at Bar di Bello, which loosely translates to “bar of beauty,” opens with cocktails such as the tomato water and gin-based Greenhouse Martini and the raspberry balsamic-tinged Prima Donna with gin and Amaro dell’Etna, alongside California and Italian wines. Larger mains include trofie alla Genovese with twists of pasta spun in pesto and a chicken cutlet topped with a sauce of shallots, guanciale, and capers reminiscent of Milanese.
Design firm 22RE is behind the warm wood-clad interior of Bar di Bello. Burgundy banquettes flank one side of the dining room, contrasting with a tiled floor, while a handful of stools line up at the bar. Even with its setting in a strip mall, the interior of Bar di Bello is transportive — the room hums with crowds sipping aperitivos while red velvet curtains obscure traffic outside.
