RUSK COUNTY, Texas (WKRC) – A man allegedly asked his uncle to pick his children up from school because he had just murdered their mother with an ax and was going to flee the state.
According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by Law&Crime, officers were dispatched to a residence at 2 p.m. on March 18 to respond to a request for a welfare check.
The person who called 911 to request the welfare check reportedly identified himself as the uncle of 47-year-old Scott Raymond Thompson. The caller allegedly told authorities that Thompson contacted him and asked him to “pick his kids up at school” to prevent them from going home.
Thompson allegedly told the caller that “he had killed his wife with an axe” and “left her in the hall and locked her in” and did not want his kids to see her.
Investigators arrived to Thompson’s home and saw “blood through the backdoor window in the hallway,” prompting officers to force their way into the residence, per the affidavit.
“Upon entry, [deputies] observed a deceased white female lying beside the back door with wounds consistent with sharp force trauma to the back of her head and a large amount of blood surrounding the body,” the affidavit read.
