This week’s random question for San Francisco Giants and staff isn’t all that random. Between the Artemis II voyage  and the box office success of “Project Hail Mary,” the Chronicle asked about space.

It turns out that “Interstellar” is popular in the clubhouse, and no one has yet seen Ryan Gosling’s latest film — it’s tough to find time to get to the movies once the season starts.

Are you interested in outer space and/or what’s your favorite space movie?

Matt Chapman, third baseman: I  love it. I mean, it’s a big mystery. I like all the mysteries. I like conspiracies, too, stuff like that. I think it’d definitely be crazy to think we’re the only thing out there, but it’s hard to form an opinion when there’s information overload, but I just kind of take it all in. But, yeah, space is cool. I’ve always wanted to go. I pay attention to that kind of thing — I saw some things about this one. (Grins.) I  mean, that is to say, if we’ve ever gone to the moon.

Tony Vitello, manager: I’ve gotten a ton of grief about the fact I’ve never seen “Interstellar” and now it’s definitely more than on my radar, but there are very few times where I’m just sitting with two free hours and have a TV. I don’t think I’m into space movies as much as I need to be, because I have not seen that. “Apollo 13” sticks out to me because it was informative, and anytime Tom Hanks is involved, it’s phenomenal. But ever since I was younger, I don’t know why, but “Star Trek” kind of weirded me out a little bit. Maybe it’s fear of the unknown, but I’ve never geeked out about it. I like “Star Wars,” so maybe that was kind of the sci-fi for me. I was young, so I can admit I had all the figurines and all that stuff going on. So I was pretty into “Star Wars,” the original three movies. After that, I kind of lost interest.

I’ve just paid attention more than anything to the conspiracy theories about whether we’ve actually been on the moon. I don’t think it’s fun when people get malicious and stuff like that, but when you have a lot of locker room downtime and guys start silly arguments, it’s comical, and I think those conversations are interesting.

Keaton Winn, pitcher: I love “Interstellar.” It’s just my favorite movie of all time, it’s got a great story line. And I don’t know it’s like, cutting-edge stuff, like when they go to the planet, and every sound like, tick, you hear in the background, it’s been a day on Earth. I haven’t seen “Project Hail Mary” yet but I want to, it looks good.

JT Brubaker, pitcher: “Interstellar” is great, and “Inception” I would also say, it’s not really a space movie, but it’s kind of like that random, weird, different dimension-type stuff. I’m definitely into space stuff. It’s been a while since I’ve watched “Star Wars.” I think the launch was during one of our games in San Diego, but I was aware of it, I saw some things on social media.

Robbie Ray, pitcher: Obviously, you have “Star Wars,” which is a pretty big deal and I got into the “Alien” series. I’m not a scary movie, thriller guy, but I did watch those. I’m not usually into that kind of movie, but the original “Alien” movies and then “Prometheus” and the ones that are more recent are spectacular.

Blade Tidwell, pitcher: I’m not really interested in space, but “Interstellar” is one of my favorite movies. (Actual space travel) kind of skeeves me out though.
