(FOX40.COM) — A Sacramento County man has been sentenced to 45 years to life in prison for sexually assaulting a woman at knifepoint after picking her up in his truck, according to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office.

The DA’s office said Kenny Chacon, 48, was sentenced Friday following his conviction on charges of forcible rape, sodomy by force and forcible oral copulation. A jury also found true an allegation that he used a deadly weapon during the attacks.

Chacon was convicted Sept. 17, 2025, after a trial prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Ryan Roebuck, officials said.

According to authorities, the assault occurred Oct. 12, 2022, when the victim, who was engaged in commercial sex work, was approached by Chacon. The two agreed to meet, and the victim entered his truck.

The DA’s office said in a press release that after driving to another location, Chacon allegedly held a knife to her throat and sexually assaulted her for several hours.

Prosecutors reported that Chacon later dropped the victim off near where he had first contacted her. The victim was able to provide a partial license plate number and reported the assault.

Deputies with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office and officers with the Sacramento Police Department found Chacon’s truck within hours and conducted a felony stop.

Authorities said a knife was visible inside the vehicle. A subsequent search warrant led to the discovery of three knives.

Investigators stated that Chacon gave inconsistent statements during interviews. A sexual assault examination conducted on the victim produced DNA evidence that matched Chacon, prosecutors said.

One of the knives recovered from the truck also contained DNA from both Chacon and the victim, officials said.

Under California law, Chacon will be eligible for release at an elder parole hearing after turning 50 and serving 20 years of his sentence. With custody credits, that eligibility is expected in approximately 17 years, according to prosecutors.
