FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — Fresno police say the driver responsible for the double fatal crash on Monday turned himself in at the Fresno County Jail.
22-year-old Timothy Seth Chavez turned himself in to a deputy at the jail for the crash at McKinley and Highway 41 that killed 41-year-old Martha Hernandez, and her 9-year-old son, Adrian.
The deputy called the Fresno Police Department and officers responded to the jail, detained Chavez and transported him to the Fresno Police Department, where detectives interviewed him.
Investigators said Chavez revealed he was the person responsible for the crash.
Police at the scene of the crash said the crash occurred when a vehicle ran a red light and hit the car driven by Hernandez and pushed it into the canal.
She was pulled from the car and died later at the hospital.
Adrian’s body was pulled from the canal about 3 miles downstream.
