BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — The motorcyclist who died after making an unsafe turn and crashing off Highway 58 near Coffee Road early Saturday morning has been identified as 29-year-old Jesus Alberto Garcia Cornej, of Bloomington.
The Kern County coroner said on April 4, 2026, at around 1:40 a.m., Cornej was riding a motorcycle eastbound on Highway 58, just west of Coffee Road, when he lost control and crashed into a chain link fence. He was pronounced dead at 2:04 a.m.
CHP said a preliminary investigation found that a 29-year-old man was riding a 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle eastbound on Highway 58, west of Coffee Road, within an unknown lane, at an undetermined rate of speed.
According to CHP, for reasons still under investigation, the rider made an unsafe turning movement. The Kawasaki went off the roadway and overturned on the southward-descending dirt embankment.
