Left-hander Yuki Matsui turned in a scoreless inning in his second rehab appears for Triple-A El Paso in an 8-4 loss on Tuesday to visiting Albuquerque.
Matsui allowed a hit but has not given up a in two appearances. He has two strikeouts. The 30-year-old Matsui is rehabbing the groin injury that knocked him out of participating in the World Baseball Classic and much of spring training with the Padres.
Right-hander Sean Boyle (1-1, 7.56 ERA) allowed six runs in 3⅓ innings the loss.
Left fielder Jase Bowen (1.019 OPS) hit his third homer and center fielder Samad Taylor (.844 OPS) hit his first homer.
Sung-Mun Song (.674 OPS) entered the game as a defensive replacement. He is rehabbing an oblique injury
El Paso is 5-5.
