We’re a month out from the highly anticipated opening of three new Metro stations, all located along Wilshire Boulevard, all on the D Line.

To celebrate this years-in-the-making event — scratch that, decades-in-the-making — Metro released a t-shirt that has had, well, local chins wagging. Or eyebrows raising? Jaws gaping? Grins widening?

Answer: all of the above.

If you’ve been on passenger rail service’s social media at any point over the last few months, you’ve likely encountered more than a few Metro mavens sporting their brand-new t-shirt, a quirky top that boasts quite the call to action: Ride the D.

As an ode to the line’s former hue, the “D” is in a purple circle, a design element sure to thrill riders who reference the color of the rail lines in addition to their specific letters.

The cheeky clothing item sold out in a jiffy. A surprise “back in stock” message shared on social media in late February had fans searching for the tee stoked, but that limited-time moment came to a conclusion, with the shirts once again selling out.

Now, just a month ahead of the opening of the D Line Extension Section 1 on May 8, the chance to “Ride the D” has returned, with the near certainty that the shirts will again be sold out in lickety-split fashion.

Take the “While Supplies Last” promise to heart, dear tee-seekers. To heart.

Will you wear yours to the grand opening of the stations at Wilshire/La Brea, Wilshire/Fairfax, and Wilshire/La Cienega?

Count on the tees, and other Metro-inspired fashion, to be out in festive force as the long-awaited extension drops the proverbial rope.

The heavyweight unisex tee is $21 while the crop top is priced at $20.
