ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA – Yaroslav Askarov will start against the Minnesota Wild on Sunday, giving him two consecutive games for the first time this season.
Neither Alex Nedeljkovic nor Askarov had started two in a row until tonight, but Warsofsky opted to go with the 23-year-old.
“I don’t need to give him a message. He knows that he played really well, so we’ll stick with him today,” Warsofsky said pregame.
The Sharks will also scratch Jeff Skinner for the first time this season. Michael Misa will return to the lineup after he was scratched against the New Jersey Devils on Friday.

Skinner has three goals in eight games and had a goal taken away against the Devils. Despite the production, Warsofsky wants more from him.
“We just need more. Need more, really, from everyone. We’ve won one game, so we gotta keep shuffling it until we get it right,” Warsofsky said.
“He’s in decent spots. It’s just, we got to win some more pucks. That’s not just him. That’s our whole group. We’ve got to win more 50-50 pucks. We have to create in the inside, a little bit more. He’s had some good, good things happen, and some things that we need to continue to work on.”
As far as the projected San Jose Sharks line combinations, Warsofsky said there will be more changes. He wants to get Philipp Kurashev more involved, so it sounds like he could move into Skinner’s vacated spot.

“There will be some adjustments up front. We’ll try to get Kurashev in the mix,” Warsofsky said.
