Sunset Dunes will mark its first anniversary with Ploverfest, a lively, all-ages celebration set along the Pacific Coast.
The event, set for noon-4 p.m. Sunday, April 12, seeks to honor the volunteers and community members behind California’s largest pedestrianization project, transforming the coastal stretch between Sloat Boulevard and Judah Street into a festive mile of live music and entertainment.
Expect local bands and DJs performing along the route, with stages set at Sloat Boulevard, Noriega, Taraval, Pacheco and Judah streets. Among those on the bill are indie pop outfit Good Friends, groove-driven Honey Bucket and a rotating DJ lineup featuring Gavin Hardkiss and Adub.
A brief speaking program with community leaders is scheduled for 2-2:30 p.m.
The daytime festival is named after the Western Snowy Plover shorebirds that can be seen at Ocean Beach.
