(FOX40.COM) — Blue Diamond Growers in Midtown Sacramento announced it will continue operations with at least 90 working roles, after planning its full closure in June 2025.

The manufacturing plant had originally planned for its complete closure with phases over the next few years and the impact on a team of 600 people.

Officials now said that they plan to keep certain portions, primarily in-shell processing and supporting functions, operating at the location.

“Inshell operations support the demand of export markets that prefer the delivery of almonds in the shell,” officials said.

The plant estimated that the remaining operations will require around 90 roles. According to officials, existing Blue Diamond members in Sacramento will have the opportunity to apply.

“Blue Diamond determined that inshell processing is best maintained in Sacramento because of the specialized equipment and storage infrastructure already in place,” officials said. “Retaining those operations in Sacramento is the most practical and least disruptive option at this stage of the transition.”

They said that all other parts of the planned closure, including the layoffs of more than 30 corporate positions, will take place.
