The Fresno Police Department is investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian Sunday night.
Officers responded to the collision at 7 p.m. at Blackstone Avenue, just south of Clinton Avenue.
According to police, the pedestrian was not in a crosswalk or in an unmarked intersection as he was crossing east on Blackstone. He went into the northbound lanes and failed to yield to traffic and was struck by an SUV.
Officers arrived and rendered first aid, but the pedestrian was pronounced dead. Police said he was in his 60s.
The driver stopped and was cooperative with officers, police said.
Police said there is no evidence or sign of intoxication.
The departments Collision Reconstruction Unit is responding and taking over the investigation
Northbound Blackstone, just south of Clinton will be closed for several hours. Police said to avoid the area.
