Long Beach is celebrating Earth Month with a series of free family-friendly events, workshops and volunteer opportunities for residents throughout April.

The festivities will highlight a range of sustainable topics, such as supporting local wildlife, reducing waste and stewarding community spaces, according to a press release.

“Earth Month is a time for celebration and activation,” Mayor Rex Richardson said in a statement. “This time of year reminds us to appreciate the natural world around us and to take steps to protect our environment for future generations. I encourage the community to join in the festivities and learn how we can work together to make Long Beach a more sustainable city.”

The city has published an Earth Month Calendar at lbcity.info/lbem to share the different community activities and events happening citywide.
