Eastern San Diego County will be under a heat advisory from 11 a.m. Tuesday to 7 p.m. Wednesday due to weak-to-moderate Santa Ana winds, the National Weather Service says.

The advisory will primarily affect the roughly 600,000 people who live east of Interstate 15, where the temperature is expected to rise into the upper 80s and low 90s. Wednesday will be the hottest day.

The strongest winds will occur along the coastal slopes of the region’s inland mountains, where gusts could reach 35 mph to 45 mph. The weather service isn’t issuing an elevated wildfire advisory because that area received significant rain earlier this month.

Forecasters say the weather will shift again on Thursday when cool onshore winds begin to come ashore.
