Authorities are searching for a gunman who shot a woman as she stood on a balcony in Los Angeles’ Fairfax District on Thursday night.
Deputies were called to a report of a gunshot wound victim on the 1000 block of Vista Street around 8:45 p.m., a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson confirmed to KTLA.
The call prompted a large law enforcement response, with deputies closing off the street outside an apartment building.

When deputies arrived, they located the wounded woman, who appeared to have been shot in the shoulder while standing on the balcony.
The unidentified victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital in unknown condition, the spokesperson said.
Sky5 was over the scene as deputies searched the surrounding area for the gunman, but no suspect was located.
Investigators have not released information about a possible motive, and it remains unclear whether the woman was targeted.
