A Disneyland trip can get expensive fast, which is exactly why the hotel choice matters so much. Disney’s current Anaheim lodging setup includes three official Disneyland Resort hotels, while the Good Neighbor map currently lists 57 nearby partner properties in categories ranging from “across the street” to “more than 1 mile” from the resort.
That gives travelers a much wider field than many first-time visitors realize. In practical terms, it means you can stay close to the gates without locking yourself into the price structure of the on-property trio.
There is a trade-off, of course. Disney’s current Lightning Lane entry benefit is specifically tied to guests staying at the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort, so off-site stays are not the route for travelers who want every official perk.
Even so, nearby partners often answer with advantages of their own, including breakfast, kitchen suites, shuttle service, family-friendly pools, and room layouts that can work better for larger groups. For many visitors, those practical extras do more to ease the overall budget than a themed headboard ever could.
1. Candy Cane Inn

Candy Cane Inn has long been one of the most appealing non-Disney addresses in Anaheim because it feels genuinely pleasant rather than purely functional. Disney describes it as a boutique hotel with serene gardens, flower-draped balconies, and a pool terrace designed to feel like a tropical oasis.
That softer, calmer personality helps it stand out from a lot of nearby chain properties. After a loud, crowded park day, that quieter mood can be a real asset.
The value case is strong too. The hotel says it sits just 250 yards from the resort and includes complimentary breakfast and parking, two line items that can noticeably shift the math on a multi-night family trip.
Candy Cane Inn also advertises its own Disneyland shuttle service, along with a heated outdoor pool, a jacuzzi, and a children’s wading pool. For travelers who want close range without the premium of sleeping inside the Disney bubble, this is one of the sharpest options on the board.
2. Howard Johnson Anaheim Hotel and Water Playground

Howard Johnson keeps showing up on Disneyland shortlists for a very simple reason: it gives families more than a bed and a shower. Disney places the property across the street from the resort and highlights its water-play appeal for families.
Its signature draw is Castaway Cove, the pirate-themed water playground that turns post-park downtime into a second round of excitement for younger kids. That feature alone makes the hotel more memorable than many nearby options that blur together.
There is one current caution worth building into any recommendation. Wyndham says the property is undergoing renovations from April 1, 2026 into early 2027, while still promoting Castaway Cove as a central amenity.
In other words, the family appeal is still there, but daytime noise or visual disruption may be part of the experience for a while. Guests who mostly treat the room as a launch pad for rope drop and fireworks will probably handle that compromise better than travelers who love long midday hotel breaks.
3. Hyatt House at Anaheim Resort Convention Center

Hyatt House works especially well for travelers who want more elbow room and less in-room chaos. Disney describes it as one of the newest hotels in Anaheim and one of the closest to the resort, located just across the street from Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park.
The language about “residentially inspired suites” is not empty copy. This place is clearly built for people who need something more flexible than a standard double-queen setup.
The amenities back up that promise. Hyatt says the hotel offers suites with full kitchens and family suites with kid-friendly bunk beds, while its dining page highlights a complimentary morning breakfast and a 24-hour market stocked with snacks and groceries.
Those features can make a Disneyland vacation run far more smoothly, especially for multigenerational groups, picky eaters, or anyone trying to avoid buying every single meal in the parks. A property like this may not scream “storybook,” but it can quietly save both money and patience over the course of a stay.
4. The Anaheim Hotel

The Anaheim Hotel hits a sweet spot that many Disneyland visitors are actually looking for, even if they do not phrase it that way. Disney presents it as a boutique-style property within walking distance of the resort, with a more relaxed personality than a generic off-ramp hotel.
Some travelers want heavy theming, but others are happier with style that feels easy and unfussy. That is where this hotel makes sense.
Its practical side is just as persuasive. The hotel’s own site says it has the largest outdoor swimming pool in the Anaheim Resort, and it also promotes guaranteed connecting rooms for families who need adjoining space.
The Pizza Press restaurant adds another layer of convenience after a long park day. For many groups, that combination of pool time, easy room setup, and no-fuss food is exactly what makes an off-site stay feel like the smarter choice.
5. Anaheim Majestic Garden Hotel

The Anaheim Majestic Garden Hotel goes in a very different direction from the compact Harbor Boulevard picks, and that is precisely why it deserves a place on this list. Disney says the castle-themed property sits less than half a mile from the resort and spreads across 13 tranquil acres with fountains, gardens, and a koi pond.
That larger-scale setting gives it a more resort-like feel than many competitors nearby. Families who want the vacation to feel like it begins before they even reach the parks may find this one especially charming.
The hotel also comes with a strong amenity package. The hotel’s own site promotes a free Dream Machine shuttle directly to and from Disneyland Resort, and its shuttle page says service runs during park hours.
Disney’s Good Neighbor page also highlights a breakfast-included package perk for eligible 2026 Walt Disney Travel Company stays. That mix makes this a strong pick for travelers who want budget relief, breathing room, and a little theatrical flair in the same booking.
