Another crackdown on fraud in California is continuing to stir the pot between the Trump Administration and some state leaders here in California.

But this back and forth isn’t anything recent that has quickly built steam.

Earlier this year, President Trump called out Governor Gavin Newsom and other states that he believes don’t do enough to combat fraud in their respective states.

“They’re all corrupt politicians, from the governor of Minnesota to the governor of California to everybody they’re just corrupt politicians. And you’re talking about hundreds of billions of dollars in fraud, waste fraud and abuse. But in fraud, you’re talking about hundreds of billions of dollars under the “Unaffordable Care Act,” which is Obamacare. It’s called the unaffordable. It is unaffordable. Remember that.”

Months later and the FBI would arrest multiple people in Southern California for hospice fraud.

Dubbed “Never Say Die” agents arrested 8 people who are accused of defrauding the government of $50 million in funds meant to help terminally ill patients receiving hospice care but instead went to fraudsters.

It’s a scene that Doctor Mehmet Oz says will look similar for all others who are committing fraud.

“You might live in a nice neighborhood now, and the beautiful house, great cars and wonderful vacations. But the clock is ticking.”

An initial response from Governor Gavin Newsom’s Press Office thanked the administration for what they say is a late response.

In a post to “X”, The Governor’s Press Office stated quote…

“Glad the federal government is finally stepping up to do their part. State has been taking action for years, including suspending 280+ licenses & banning new licenses since 2022. Big Question: Will Trump Pardon Any Of Them Like He’s Done For So Many Fraudsters Before?”

This back and forth continues to this day as the states attorney general and Governor Newsom give an update on another fraud ring that was just charged.

But this back and forth between both administrations also has a different layer since Governor Newsom’s Office claims these programs stem from the president’s administration.

In a post on “x” the same day, his press office said quote…

“Great to see the federal government root out fraud in Trump’s federal health care system in California! We’re fully supportive. Governor Gavin Newsom banned new hospice licenses in 2021 because of rampant fraud.”
