FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — A custom-built firetruck that was made in Fresno is being sent to Kansas City.

Tempest, a Fresno-based company, has just completed a custom mobile ventilation unit, or MVU, that’s now headed to Kansas City.

The company designs and manufactures firefighter safety equipment in Fresno.

The massive truck is designed to help firefighters clear smoke faster during emergencies, ultimately saving lives.

The mounted ventilation fan is also breaking records.

The Marketing Communication Manager, Sam Jessup, said, “This is the largest vehicle-mounted ventilator in the world.”

Jessup continued, “We get very excited about these sorts of things because it makes us feel like we’re making a difference in the lives of people and the lives of firefighters around.”

Their technology was recently used during the demolition of the producers’ dairy silos in downtown Fresno and in a recent smoke-clearing incident at Northpointe church.

Jessup says they’ve also sent three of these trucks to the Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport.
