ROCHESTER, Mich. – After adding a match to its regular-season schedule, the Oakland University women’s tennis team will hit the road to face the University of Michigan on Sunday, April 12.

The Golden Grizzlies (6-9, 2-1 HL) are coming off a split road weekend against IU Indianapolis (6-3, 2-0 HL) and Northern Kentucky (2-9, 0-2 HL). Oakland dropped a close 4-3 decision to the Jaguars, but bounced back the next day with a 5-2 victory over the Norse.

Senior Tara Montreuil and sophomore Martyna Piechowicz went 2-0 on the No. 3 doubles court during the road trip, helping the team secure the doubles point against NKU. In singles play, Piechowicz, junior Edie Hammond, and freshman Oliwia Klimas each posted perfect 2-0 records against their Horizon League opponents.

This will be the second all-time meeting between the two programs, with both contests being played at Michigan’s Varsity Tennis Center.

SCOUTING THE WOLVERINES

Michigan (12-6, 9-1 Big Ten) is currently ranked No. 15 in the ITA rankings, marking its third consecutive week in the top 25. The Wolverines return home for a three-match homestand after a 4-1 road win over Northwestern (12-9, 5-5 Big Ten), taking four straight-set singles matches after dropping the doubles point.

Michigan also features three ranked singles players: Piper Charney (No. 7), Lily Jones (No. 25), and Reese Miller (No. 109). Charney and Jones earned ITA All-America honors in the fall after advancing to the round of 16 at the NCAA Singles Championship in November.

Oakland’s first-ever meeting with Michigan came in 2022, when the Wolverines recorded a 7-0 win over the Golden Grizzlies in both programs’ winter-season openers. This time, each team will close its non-conference slate against the other.

Live stats for Sunday’s match will be available for first serve at 4 p.m. (EST) via Sidearm Stats, with live streaming also available HERE.
