A restored 1915 pergola near Balboa Park’s Botanical Building was unveiled Friday by the group Forever Balboa Park. The pergola was originally built for the 1915 Panama-California Exposition. It was one of 12 that once stood, the group says. It was lost during World War II, when the park was a military training site. The new pergola is 45 feet long. Nelvin C. Cepeda / U-T
