The best start in franchise history continued for the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday night in Kansas City, Kansas.
Jack Skahan scored in the 45th minute and again in the 49th to erase an early deficit as San Jose won 3-1 over Sporting Kansas City to improve to 6-1-0 on the season.
Dave Romney finished the scoring for San Jose with a goal in the 75th minute.
Jacob Bartlett had given Kansas City a 1-0 advantage when he scored in the 27th minute, but the good vibes didn’t last for the home side as KC fell to 1-5-1 while losing to San Jose for the second time this season.
Niko Tsakiris and Ousseni Bouda assisted on Skahan’s first goal. Preston Judd and Tsakiris were credited with assists on the second.
The goals were Skahan’s first two of the season.
Daniel Munie assisted on Romney’s goal, which was his first of the season.
The Earthquakes, who have scored six goals in their two matches this season against Kansas City, stretched their winning streak to three.
San Jose will continue MLS play on April 19 in Los Angeles against LAFC. The Earthquakes’ next home match is April 22 against Austin.
