HAZMAT responds to fuel leak from car in San Diego creek

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — First responders and Hazmat teams in San Diego were busy pulling a car from a creek and cleaning fuel from the water Sunday morning.

San Diego Police officers responded around 9 a.m. to reports of a blue Hyundai Tucson that was found in a creek off of State Route 52 and Genesee Avenue in the area of Marian Bear Memorial Park. Officers checked the area and said they did not find anyone in the car and no air bags were deployed, although it appeared the car could have fallen into the creek from the highway off-ramp.

Hazmat teams were also called to the area to help clean fuel and oil that was seen leaking into the creek.
