FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) — A business owner in Fresno County woke up to a heartbreaking surprise: the business she had owned for over 11 years was broken into.
The break-in occurred near the Fresno Yosemite International Airport.
The owner says security footage shows one suspect breaking into her business with a hoodie and glasses.
It’s not the first time her dog grooming business has been broken into.
Broken doors and shattered windows, that’s what the business owner of Barking Beauties, Susan Hamilton, found Monday morning.
“It’s always unsettling for that to happen. It takes out, you know, it’s money to repair anything that’s broken. Sometimes equipment is taken. Money is taken, it’s taken out of your time of your day,” said Susan Hamilton, owner of Barking Beauties.
Around 6 a.m. Monday, she was notified by a neighboring business that her shop had been robbed.
“They’re starting a coffee shop here. And the guys who are working here alerted the owner’s son that one of the windows facing Clovis Avenue was broken,” said Hamilton.
It’s the second time in 11 years that her dog grooming business on North Clovis Avenue has been broken into.
“It’s just really, it’s really inconvenient and, sadly, people go out of their way to do,” said Hamilton.
The Fresno County sheriff’s office says security footage shows one male suspect was in and out of the building very quickly.
Hamilton says it’s scary knowing people were still able to get in despite security measures like cameras, locks, and screen doors.
“You never know when someone’s going to break in or someone’s going to attack you, so just keep your doors locked. Because even when things are locked up, which we are, as you know, we’re heavily locked down, and we have cameras. They don’t care; they come in with hoodies. They’ve got glasses on and they’re going to do it anyway,” said Hamilton.
Hamilton says the break-in happened on a day she is closed and says insurance will do its part to help with the damage.
The sheriff’s office says lately they have not received reports like this one in the area.
