FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — A one-of-a-kind fire truck built in the Central Valley is now being used across the country.

Fresno-based company Tempest has completed a custom Mobile Ventilation Unit (MVU) that’s now at the Kansas City Fire Department.

The specialized truck is designed to help clear smoke more quickly during emergencies, improving visibility and safety for firefighters.

The vehicle features a powerful mounted fan that’s considered record-breaking in its class.

Tempest designs and manufactures firefighter safety equipment in Fresno, and its technology has already been used locally during the Producers Dairy silo demolition and for smoke clearing at Northpointe Church.
