A dog bit a woman near the Los Angeles River in Long Beach on Sunday afternoon, April 12, authorities said, and was taken to a hospital with a “severe extremity injury.”

Officers, at around 1:45 p.m., found the woman close to the river and Anaheim Street under attack by the dog, police said.

“Bystanders heard her asking for help and initiated 911 calls,” said Capt. Jack Crabtree, a Long Beach Fire Department spokesperson.

Officers Tased and hit the dog with a baton to separate it from the woman.

Police determined two dogs were involved in the attack. One was captured by Animal Care Services after it was found by a police drone, CBS reported.

It was unclear what would happen to the one dog, and if the second one was captured.
