A driver struck and killed a man walking in the South of Market neighborhood on Monday and kept going, the San Francisco Fire Department said.
Fire crews responded to the corner of Mission Street and South Van Ness Boulevard at about 3:24 p.m. on reports of a person struck by a vehicle, according to fire department spokesperson Lt. Mariano Elias.
Multiple good Samaritans and a Muni bus driver called 911 to report a person unresponsive and lying in the middle of the street, Elias said.
Callers said the driver sped away from the scene.
Elias said the police responded and caught the suspect, though no further details were available.
