After three heavy days of rain, how wet did Oakland get?

The skies opened up on Oakland this weekend. Roads and highways were flooded as nearly opaque sheets of rain hammered down.

So exactly how much rain did we get?

Over three days, from Friday through Sunday, Oakland got 1.77 inches of rain, more than double what’s normal for the first 12 days of April, which is 0.72 inches.

The drenching still wasn’t enough to remedy a dry Oakland year, however. The rainfall season begins on July 1, and according to data from the California Nevada River Forecast center, Oakland is at 15.72 inches of rain for the season, 84% of normal.

After a wet season last year, large stretches of California, including Oakland and most of the Bay Area, are now considered abnormally dry, according to the US Drought Monitor.
