Woman killed in hit-and-run in Oakland Park ID’d, BSO says – NBC 6 South Florida

A woman who was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Oakland Park last week was identified on Tuesday, deputies said.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the woman was identified as 67-year-old Donna Ramsey.

Deputies said the incident happened on April 8 near the 4400 block of Northwest Ninth Avenue.

When deputies and fire rescue crews arrived at the scene, they found Ramsey, who was pronounced dead.

During their investigation, BSO said that the suspect, 22-year-old Khaleel Carrey, was driving northbound on Northwest Ninth Avenue when he struck Ramsey while she was crossing the road.

Deputies were able to find Carrey’s vehicle, and he was taken into custody.

He faces charges of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence and failure to stop and or remain on the scene of an accident involving death.
