San Francisco police are investigating a burst of gunfire Sunday night that damaged multiple cars and nearby homes, authorities said.

Officers were first dispatched around 10:33 p.m. to the 1200 block of Buchanan Street in the Western Addition after a ShotSpotter alert, according to police.

When they arrived, officers found multiple spent shell casings and four unoccupied vehicles that had been struck by gunfire, the San Francisco Police Department said in a statement.

As officers canvassed the area, they heard additional gunshots and were alerted to a second ShotSpotter activation near the 1800 block of Eddy Street, police said. Officers searched the area but did not locate any suspects.

Investigators later determined that two residences and another unoccupied vehicle had also been hit by gunfire.

No injuries were reported, and no arrests had been made as of Tuesday, authorities said. It remains unclear whether the gunfire stemmed from a single incident or multiple episodes.

Anyone with information is asked to contact San Francisco police at 415-575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411, beginning the message with “SFPD.” Authorities identified the case numbers as 260204496 and 260204474.
