Frequency Broadcasting has brought back the “Kelly 95.3” branding to KLLY, the CHR station in its Bakersfield, CA cluster.

From 1984 to 2015, the station used the “Kelly 95.3” handle as it evolved from soft rock to hot AC to CHR, followed by a rebranding to Energy 95.3” and most recently “Live 95.3” while under Alpha Media ownership. In November 2025, Frequency, owned by Kait and Danny Hill, purchased KLLY as part of Connoisseur Media’s Bakersfield cluster along with R&B oldies “Groove 99.3” KKBB and talk KNZR-FM and AM (97.7/1560).

Frequency Broadcasting also owns “Outlaw Country” KVLI/K240FH (1140/95.9) and hot AC “Rewind 98.1/93.5” KRWI/K228GB in the Bakersfield market. As part of the switch to “Kelly 95.3,” G Networks’ syndicated “Danny & Kait Show” moves from mornings on “Rewind” to “Kelly.” Danny Hill hosted mornings solo on KLLY from 2010-2015 and 2017-2019.

“We’re incredibly proud to bring Kelly back home,” Frequency Broadcasting CEO Kait Hill says. “This is a brand that already has deep roots in Bakersfield. Bringing it back is about honoring that history while building something that feels fresh, relevant, and locally connected.”

Chief Operations Officer Danny Hill adds, “Kelly has always meant something in this market. Reestablishing that identity gives us a strong foundation to grow from, while still evolving the sound and presentation to meet today’s listener expectations.”
