Santa Ana police are investigating the theft of two historical plaques stolen over the weekend from the Grand Central Arts Center in Santa Ana, authorities said.
According to police, the plaques stored at the building located at 125 N. Broadway were made of expensive material. One plaque measures approximately 18′ x 16″ inches, and the other is about 10″ x 9″.
Officials said the monetary value of the items is difficult to determine and the motive for the theft remains unclear. Investigators believe the plaques could be sold for scrap.
Authorities are urging local businesses to remain alert and report any suspicious attempts to sell similar items.
