President Trump has endorsed a top San Diego County leader in the congressional race to succeed veteran Republican Darrell Issa.
In a truth social post, President Trump said “It is my Great Honor to endorse Highly Respected San Diego County Supervisor, Jim Desmond.”
The 10-year veteran Supervisor is the leading Republican contender in a district whose boundaries were redrawn under Proposition 50 to make it easier for Democrats to win elections.
The district previously was primarily the East County but now includes much of the North County and Palm Springs.
Issa decided not to run for the seat following the passage of Prop 50 last year.
