With prom season underway, students and families looking for last-minute dresses and alterations can find a range of styles, sizes and price points at Yanes Boutique and Tailoring in East Bakersfield.

The shop carries multiple colors and sizes in popular prom styles, including a fitted, bedazzled mermaid look and a dress style that can be worn closed or with an opening in the front.
Among the color options, co-owner Maria Yanes listed green, purple, yellow, pink, red, royal blue and burgundy, along with sage and nude in some styles. She described one of the trendy looks this year as “very bedazzled”

Maria said the boutique has been open for six years at its current location and aims to stay current with “the new trendy styles,” while also emphasizing tailoring experience.
The store also offers alterations and tailoring, including for customers who bring in their own dresses. “We provide free alteration services with every purchase and also offers discounts” says Yanes.
For tailoring, she said turnaround can be “two to three business days” depending on the service. The sizes for dresses range from a small up to 5XL, with prices starting as low as $69.

The prom calendar is already active. Frontier High School has its prom this weekend. and other proms are coming up May 2nd, prompting the boutique to encourage students to shop early for selection and deals.
Yanes Boutique and Tailoring is located in East Bakersfield at 1308 E Chamberlain Avenue, and they welcome last minute shoppers.
