When the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) reopens this spring after its multi-year renovation, it will feature an unexpected new installation: an Erewhon. On April 14, LACMA and Erewhon announced that an outpost of the high-end grocer will open on April 19 for museum members attending previews of the new David Geffen galleries, followed by a public opening on May 4.
Erewhon at LACMA will serve favorites from its tonic bar and prepared food section, including coffee, matcha, fresh pastries, smoothies, cold-pressed juices, grab-and-go meals, and organic snacks. Set in the northeast pavilion, the cafe will offer indoor and outdoor seating overlooking Alexander Calder’s fountain, Three Quintains (Hello Girls). Erewhon at LACMA is set to operate through the summer; no closure date has been announced yet. Later this year, Erewhon will be joined at LACMA by a forthcoming full-service restaurant and wine bar.
