John Eastman, the attorney who sought to help overturn the 2020 presidential election, has been disbarred by the California Supreme Court.

Eastman’s disbarment follows the State Bar Court of California’s review department’s 2025 affirmation of the State Bar Court of California’s hearing department’s 2024 findings, which found the attorney responsible for 10 out of 11 charges of “egregious and deceitful conduct” and recommended disbarment, according to an April 15 press release issued by the State Bar of California.

During the 2020 presidential election, Eastman was viewed as one of the architects behind the scheme to pressure then-Vice President Mike Pence to block then-incoming (and now former) President Joe Biden’s Electoral College victory.

“Today’s California Supreme Court order disbarring John Charles Eastman from the practice of law in California affirms the fundamental principle that attorneys must act with honesty and uphold the rule of law, regardless of the client they represent or the context in which that representation occurs,” said George Cardona, the state bar’s chief trial counsel, in the press release.
