A 54-year-old man has died after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Long Beach.

Long Beach police identified the victim as Ronald Sera, 57, of Montebello.

The deadly incident occurred on Feb. 28 as Sera was walking near Redondo Avenue and Anaheim Street just after 1 a.m.

A suspect driving a Toyota Previa Van was traveling west on Anaheim Street when they hit Sera as he was using the crosswalk.

The suspect did not stop to check on the victim and continued driving away, police said.

Officers arriving at the scene found Sera lying unconscious on the road. Emergency care was provided and he remained hospitalized for over a month. On April 15, he passed away from his injuries.

The suspect driver remains at large. No further details, including a physical description of the driver, were released.
