1 dead, 2 injured after light rail train hits vehicle in Rancho Cordova

One person was killed and two others were injured in a crash involving a light rail train and another vehicle in Rancho Cordova on Thursday, according to the a spokesperson with the Rancho Cordova Police Department.The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District said the vehicle went around the crossing arms and got in the path of the light rail, leading to the crash, which happened at Folsom Boulevard and Mills Park Drive. All three people in the vehicle were taken to the hospital and one of them was later pronounced dead. Officials said nobody on the train was hurt. It is unclear why the driver of the vehicle that was hit drove around the crossing arms. The Rancho Cordova Police Department is investigating the crash.
