Pop singer Meghan Trainor has canceled her summer tour, including a San Francisco stop, saying she needs to focus on her family as she prepares to release a new album.
Trainor announced the decision in an Instagram post, ending a North American tour that had been scheduled to begin in June.
“After a lot of reflection and some really tough conversations, I’ve made the difficult decision to cancel The Get In Girl Tour,” she wrote in the post Thursday, April 16. “Balancing the release of a new album, preparing for a nationwide tour, and welcoming our new baby girl to our growing family of five has just been more than I can take on right now, and I need to be home and present for each and all of them at this time.”
Trainor, the Grammy-winning pop singer behind hits including “All About That Bass,” “Made You Look” and “Dear Future Husband,” rose to fame in the mid-2010s with cheeky, retro-inflected pop songs about body image, confidence and relationships.
The tour was set to open June 12 in Clarkston, Mich., with stops planned in cities including Chicago, Toronto, Philadelphia, Nashville and Los Angeles. The Live Nation-produced run was expected to include at least two dozen arena dates.
Fans who bought tickets through Ticketmaster will receive automatic refunds to their original form of payment once funds are received from the event organizer. The company said it may take 14 to 21 days for refunds to appear. Those who purchased tickets through third parties are advised to contact their point of purchase.
“I know this will come as a disappointment to my fans, and I am so sorry to let you down,” Trainor wrote. “But I know this is the right decision for my family and me right now. I promise I’ll be back soon, and I can’t wait for you to hear this new record.
“I’m so proud of it, and I’m endlessly grateful for your love and support always.”
The cancellation comes just ahead of the April 24 release of Trainor’s new album, “Toy With Me,” her seventh studio album. Trainor and her husband, actor Daryl Sabara, welcomed their third child, a daughter, in January.
Swedish pop duo Icona Pop, which had been set to open the tour, responded in a social media post: “We wish you and your fam all love and blessings.”
