(Gray News) – Retired left fielder Garret Anderson died suddenly at 53.
The Los Angeles Angels confirmed his death in a post on X Friday.
“Garret will forever hold a special place in the hearts of Angels fans for his professionalism, class and loyalty throughout his career and beyond,” the organization said. “We extend our heartfelt condolences to the entire Anderson family.”

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Anderson was selected by the Angels franchise in the fourth round of the 1990 MLB draft.
The power-hitting outfielder became one of the franchise’s best players.
He played for the Atlanta Braves in 2009 and the LA Dodgers in 2010, before being inducted into the Angels’ Hall of Fame in 2016.
He will likely be most remembered by Angels fans for his role in the franchise’s only World Series win so far.
