As San Diego FC suffered through its first losing streak of the 2026 season, players and coaches took an optimistic tone. They had seen enough in last week’s loss to hope that a turnaround was imminent.
Or not.
SDFC allowed two goals in the first six minutes and fell to Real Salt Lake 4-2 on Saturday at America First Stadium in Sandy, Utah, the team’s third loss in a row.

RSL’s Diego Luna opened the scoring in the fourth minute, beating Duran Ferree to make it 1-0. Sergi Solans added on in the sixth, and, after SDFC’s Marcus Ingvartsen cut it to 2-1, Solans and Morgan Guilavogui made it 4-1 at the break.
SDFC got a penalty-kick goal from star Anders Dreyer in the second half to make it a two-score game.
SDFC (3-3-2) travels next to Houston, where it will take on the Dynamo on Wednesday. RSL improves to 5-1-1.
